Police have arrested two men after releasing a CCTV image on the BBC's Crimewatch following the “traumatic” rape of a woman.

The victim, aged in her 30s, was approached by two men in West Green Road, Tottenham, at 3am on June 25, 2022.

They walked to Houghton Road together before one of the men raped the victim while the other acted as a look-out.

The fresh appeal for information comes after an image and reconstruction of the incident featured on the BBC’s Crimewatch Live programme.

The men, who are aged in their 30s were arrested on Tuesday, 14 March after handing themselves in at a north London police station.

The arrest follows an incident on Saturday, 25 June 2022, involving a woman in Houghton Road, Tottenham.

Police said the woman is being supported by specially trained officers.

Hogr Hussain, 32 (1.1.91) of Louis Close, Islington was arrested and charged with rape and criminal damage on Tuesday, 14 March. He appeared in custody on Wednesday, 15 March at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court where he was further remanded to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

A second man, aged in his 30s, was also arrested on Tuesday, 14 March on suspicion of voyeurism. He has been bailed to a date in early June pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Pembe Rayif, from North Area’s Safeguarding Team, said: “This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim and we are doing everything we can to support her and bring the perpetrator to justice.
