Enfield Town boss Bradley Quinton insists the league title is up for grabs and his side have nothing to fear when they visit Ryman Premier Division leaders Dulwich Hamlet this Saturday.

The Towners have enjoyed a superb run of form in the last month with six wins from the last seven games taking them up to sixth in the table and within seven points of the summit.

Quinton said: “The boys are all buzzing first and foremost. We will go there and be strong and brave.

“There is nothing to fear in this league and we all feel the same way. It [the league] is there for anyone to win.

“With our pace and attack I’m sure they will be worried about facing us and they are not going through the best of times at the moment.

“Nothing frightens us. There is a long way to go still and it’s very important we take it one game at a time but to be only four points off third place is a terrific achievement.”

Quinton does not believe this weekend’s trip to the table-toppers will prove decisive especially with a return game to come against Dulwich Hamlet at home in March.

The Towners boss said: “It won’t be the be all and end all but it’s very important that we are positive and not afraid. The guys all have the belief and it’s down to them on the day.”

Enfield’s surge up the table has been impressive following a slow start to the season.

The side are already ahead of schedule in terms of points compared with the last campaign.

Quinton said: “We now have four points more than at the same stage last season and we’re aiming to get better.

“The players deserve all they have got of late. We had a bad start to the season but full credit to everyone for the way we have responded.

“I’d like to think the management team have helped the players both individually and collectively. I would like to think we’ve made a really big impact and we’re proud of what we’ve done so far.”

Enfield started the new year with a 2-1 victory at home to struggling Brentwood Town although the Towners left it late to claim the three points at the QEII on Saturday.

The hosts made a bright start to the contest and were unlucky not to take the lead after ten minutes when Corey Whitely fired a shot against the crossbar.

Bobby Devyne also went close but his early effort went wide of the target.

The visitors also carried an occasional threat and were only denied the opening goal when Shad Ngandu struck a shot which was superbly tipped over the bar by Nathan McDonald.

Enfield took the lead in unlikely circumstances before the break. The hosts were awarded a free-kick in a central position and Devyne floated the ball into the penalty area but goalkeeper Andrew Plummer reacted late and the ball bounced past him into the net.

Playing conditions deteriorated in the second period with the rain and wind testing both teams.

The warning signs were there when former Towner Mitch Hahn struck the crossbar for Brentwood.

But the visitors levelled the contest after 64 minutes when Ngandu cut the ball back for Tom Richardson to fire home from close range.

Devyne should have scored when put through on goal but he flicked the ball wide of the target.

Harry Ottaway fired wide and it looked like it could be a frustrating afternoon for the team entering injury time. But the Towners snatched a late winner when Phil Lowen’s cross was headed home by Claudiu Vilcu for a dramatic end to the contest.

Quinton said: “My guys had a lot of opportunities to get four, five or six goals. But I wasn’t worried [when it was 1-1] because the players have been looking a lot fitter recently.

“We created numerous chances throughout the match and deservedly got our seventh win in eight games.”

Meanwhile, chairman Paul Reed and vice-chairman Paul Millington have signed a 99-year lease which has secured a long-term home for the Towners at the QEII Stadium.
