Tottenham are set to go head-to-head with Arsenal to sign Corinthians' Alexandre Pato, according to reports.
The Metro have said that Spurs have edged ahead in the race, preparing to offer £8 million for the Brazilian striker.
Liverpool and West Ham United have also shown interest in the player, after he expressed his desire to return to Europe.
Corinthians President Roberto de Andrade said last week: “There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks.”
Pato told The Sun that Manchester United tried to sign him on the final day of the transfer window, but he only found out afterwards.
