Enfield Town boss Bradley Quinton has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with the soon-to-be vacant manager's job at former club Braintree Town.

The 36-year-old spent nine years as a player with the Iron, who finished 14th in the Conference on Saturday, before leaving to join the Towners on a dual registration last season.

And the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee took on the role of assistant manager to then-boss George Borg at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium after returning to the club on a permanent basis this summer.

Following the sacking of Borg in August, Quinton stepped up to take his first management role.

A brace from Tyler Campbell on Saturday steered Enfield to a 2-0 home win against Witham Town and the Isthmian Premier Division play-offs.

However, the Towners are currently awaiting the Football Association's written reasons for finding the club guilty of fielding an ineligible player in Aryan Tajbakhsh.

Asked if there had been any contact with Braintree, who will be searching for a new boss after Alan Devonshire declined the offer of a new contract at Cressing Road, Quinton was non-committal.

He stated: "This (Enfield Town) is my sole determination of what I want to do and I want to do everything I can here first. We have a lot to focus on here at the moment. We will see."

Quinton, who is the Iron’s record appearance maker, turned out more than 500 times for the Essex outfit before moving to Enfield last season.

He was linked with the role in 2011 after Rod Stringer left but at the time stressed his intention to remain playing for as long as possible.

Braintree chairman Lee Harding has made a habit of appointing hungry young managers from further down the pyramid and has revealed he would like to have the new man in place in time for Thursday when the players break up for the summer.
