Harry Redknapp has revealed that Spurs paid an inflated price for Scott Parker as they were keen to avoid a player-plus-cash deal.
Parker signed for the White Hart Lane club in the summer but the Hammers wanted to take Jake Livermore as part of the deal.
However, Redknapp was not keen for such a deal and admits that the Lilywhites upped their offer in order to get their man.
“I like Jake. He’s a fantastic boy and he’s an established player now,” Redknapp told London 24.
“West Ham wanted to take him and, in the end, he didn’t want to go anyway. It didn’t happen and I’m pleased to have him here because he’s important for us.”
He added: “We paid more money for Scott in the end rather than throw Jake in as part of the deal.”
