ELENA BALTACHA has revealed the secret of her newly-found form - cutting down on pizza.

The Enfield-based player, who takes on Chinese wildcard Jie Zheng in the second round of the ladies' singles at Wimbledon today, revealed that she has given a major overhaul to her diet in a bid to improve her form.

And it has certainly worked as the 24-year-old has won two tournaments already this year, as well as staging an excellent fightback to beat Germany's Angelique Kerber in three sets in their first round contest on Monday.

Baltacha said: "I've trimmed down a lot and I feel really fit. I knew I was unfit before and that I had to do something about it."

So her favourite pizza was first to go, as the current world no.158 bids to regain the form that saw her reach the third round of Wimbledon in 2002, and the same stage of the Australian Open three years later.

Baltacha, who is first in action on court number two today (midday start) said that she was "gutted" about having to cut down on her favourite snack, but added: "I can have it as a treat - and it has got to be pepperoni."

The British no.4 is also involved in the ladies' doubles, where she and fellow Brit Naomi Cavaday will play 13th seeds Bethanie Mattek, of the USA, and Sania Mirza, of India.
