Free-scoring Enfield Borough eased into the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Vase with a 6-0 thrashing of Halstead Town.

The win continues Shaun Reece’s fine start to life as Borough manager with his prolific charges continuing to rack up the goals at this early juncture in the season.

On paper this was anything but a routine cup tie, though, despite the confidence with which the Panthers are currently playing, as Essex side Halstead top the early-season table in the equivalent Eastern Counties League Division One.

However an excellent second-half display proved to be the catalyst for a win that ensures Borough’s progress in the competition.

It took Enfield just eight minutes to open their account as player-of-the-month Brandon McKenna’s cross eventually found Greg Moore who finished.

The hosts had to wait until the second period for the floodgates to open, though, with Moore turning provider for Tage Kennedy to double the lead 10 minutes after the restart.

That strike commenced an incredible 16 minute second-half blitz where Borough would net no fewer than five times.

Further goals arrived thanks to Kennedy’s second, two further strikes from Moore to notch another hat-trick, and one from McKenna, who completed the scoring late on.
