London Two North West outfit Enfield Ignatians have raided a step eight club with the capture of four players as the Donkey Lane side set their sights on an improved finish next season.

The step seven rugby club finished 10th in the 12 team division last term and will hope that the arrival of a quartet of new faces from the level below will help the club move clear of relegation trouble.

Prop Dom Nott, flanker Liam Dunne, and two versatile players Luke Haverly and Michael Hall, who both possess the capacity to play in multiple positions, join from Midlands 3 East (South) side Biggleswade.

All four players look set to strengthen of the spine of the Ignatians’ side with all listing previous experience in the Bedfordshire County rugby set-up.

Speaking to the club website about the signings, coach Shane Manning said: "Being able to have four quality players join the squad for this season is a really big boost. Having worked with them previously, I know first-hand what they are capable of.

"Dom Nott is an excellent loose head prop and scrummager whereas Liam Dunne is an out and out openside flanker, who tackles like a demon and is also great with the ball in hand.

"Michael Hall covers the 8, 10 and 12 positions and is a very destructive ball carrier, whereas Luke Haverly, equally at home at full-back or fly-half, has an excellent kicking game.”

He added: “We have a good squad but would always welcome more players, it's a long season ahead and we will need every player to stand up and be counted if we want to achieve our goals."
