Enfield Town manager Bradley Quinton believes having his first choice side available will make a huge difference and help the club climb the league.

The Towners slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Billericay Town on Saturday which left them bottom of the Ryman Premier Division.

Enfield have been without strikers Corey Whitely due to his hamstring injury and Bobby Devyne due to a family bereavement.

Devyne’s flight back from America was delayed last weekend which meant he could only come off the bench but should be ready to feature from the start on Saturday at home to Burgess Hill Town.

Quinton said: “It will make a huge difference having them back because the partnership they had last year was frightening.

“We are now getting back the crop of team that got us where we finished last season. We need to be judged when all the players are back.

“Look at Chelsea and Arsenal this season and it’s still early doors. People are coming into the squad and once they are all back I’m sure you will see the real Enfield climb the table.”

Town’s hopes of securing a result at Billericay were dashed after young forward Tayshan Hayden-Smith was sent off for a challenge on former Enfield player Joe Ellul.

Quinton felt the decision was harsh and believes the youngster should have been given a yellow card.

The manager said: “He is a young, keen lad who is prepared to get stuck in and wants to show what he can do.

“He’s inexperienced and you can’t tackle like that but the other guy just rolled around like he had a broken leg. The magic sponge came out and he played on. I didn’t think it was a red card – because a yellow card and a warning should have been enough.”

Alex Cathaline had the ball in the net for the visitors early on but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The hosts opened the scoring through Tom Derry before Hayden-Smith’s dismissal scuppered Town’s hopes of a fightback.

Billericay doubled their lead just before the break through George Beavan and Jandir da Cruz conceded a penalty in the second half for a foul on Conor Hubble which enabled Onome Sodje to seal the win.

Quinton, whose side visit Brentwood Town tonight in the League Cup, said: “The boys should be producing a lot better than that but it didn’t help having the young lad sent off.”
