Frank Buglioni is confident a fourth meeting between himself and rival Lee Markham will be made and is promising a bigger and better encounter than Saturday’s draw.

The 26-year-old from Winchmore Hill went toe-to-toe with Markham (14-2-1) at Wembley Arena in a split draw which was lauded as a potential fight of the year by many of those in attendance.

Buglioni and Markham have history. When the pair last met it was Markham who came out on top but after the contest was 96-94, 94-96, 95-95 by the judges, both keen for a fourth instalment of a feud which has lasted since their amateur days.

“We both wanted this fight for a long time and now our promoters have worked on this so we is more than likely a re-match will happen,” confirmed Buglioni. “It will be even bigger this time around too, because people know we let our fists do the talking.”

And taking to Twitter, Markham echoed Buglioni’s message. @leebanjomarkham: “Support was amazing last night thanks! Thought I won let's face it a draw as the away fighter is a win bring on the rematch.”

It was Buglioni’s second successful defence of the WBO European Super-Middleweight strap he regained against Andrew Robinson at the ExCel Arena last November and the ‘Wise Guy’ felt he had the better of ‘Banjo’ Markham.

“I was disappointed with the draw,” admitted the part-time model. “I thought I had done enough to win but perhaps I did not give Lee Markham enough credit. I might have slightly underestimated him.

“He brought his best top the fight and I will be brining my very best with me when we next meet.”

Asked where he felt he could have done better on the night, Buglioni replied: “My timing could have slight better but when I caught him with the right shots he staggered and I think that was evident afterwards in the press conference because he was badly marked up whereas I was not.”

Promoter Frank Warren was among those to label the encounter a potential fight of the year contender and Buglioni was in agreement: “A lot of writers are calling it a contender for fight of the year and it did not take too much out of me, which is good.

“At the end of the fight I knew it had been a good fight and he was doing good work towards the last 30 seconds of rounds but I also thought I was doing better work for the majority of the fight,” claimed Buglioni.

It was only the second time Buglioni has been forced to endure the full ten rounds – the other occasion coming against Robinson last year – and he understands it was another part of the learning curve.

“I really want to rectify the draw now and those long, hard rounds will be invaluable when I return to training camp because I will be better prepared than ever,” explained Buglioni.

However, Buglioni is unsure as to whether any potential rematch with Markham will come before or after meeting another opponent.

He said: “I will have to sit down with Frank Warren and my team to discuss what is best. If it is Lee Markham, great, if not we will go again and deal with whoever it may be.”
