A LORRY driver is fighting for his life after his gas canister-laden vehicle burst into flames.
Ian MacNeil suffered serious burns when his truck exploded into a fireball.
Smoke was seen coming from the vehicle yesterday as it drove through the Queenslie Industrial Estate, Glasgow, and a loud bang followed.
Rescuers grabbed Mr MacNeil from the cab moments before the truck went up in flames.
Mr MacNeil, who works for vehicle cleaning products firm Autosmart, was saved by passers-by and his brother-in-law, who was behind him. The 56-year-old, from Garthamlock, suffered extensive burns.
He managed to walk to his office nearby, but went into shock just before the ambulance arrived.
He was then rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to burns to his face and hands. He was said to be in a critical condition.
One man, who works nearby, said: "We tried to help him by putting wet towels on his face and arms and kept talking to him.
"He couldn't open his eyes and seemed very stunned."
