Spurs boss Tim Sherwood has admitted he is fearful of a bigger club making a summer swoop for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen has been one of few bright spots for Tottenham in a disappointing season, bagging nine assists an 12 goals since his summer move from Ajax.

With Spurs losing the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in recent summer transfer windows, Sherwood is fearful of losing the Danish international.

“You are always fearful that someone might come and take one of your best players,” Sherwood told the Daily Mirror. “And Christian is certainly one.

"He is 22 , just turned. He has the head of a 35-year-old. He knows when to speed it up and slow it down.”

Two excellent assists for Paulinho and Younes Kaboul in the 3-1 win over Fulham on Saturday only raised Eriksen's stock, but the attacking midfielder has previously stated that he would not leave White Hart Lane if Spurs failed to reach the Champions League.

"For me, the feeling I have at the club isn't dependent on being in the Champions League," Eriksen told the Daily Mirror a fortnight ago.

"Our aim now is to win all our matches so that we end the season with some confidence ahead of next year and if we do that, we can see where it takes us in the table."
