I am writing to urge readers who use and value their local libraries to read and fill in the Library Development Plan Consultation, which is available online and in paper form in the libraries themselves.
Please read carefully and express your opinion, but time is short as the cut-off date is this Friday.
I am very concerned that both the options that it outlines for the future are heavily reliant on volunteer helpers and for that reason may not be viable.
As a regular user of the John Jackson Library, I was disappointed that neither option will leave its provision unchanged. I note that in option two, the Ponders End Library will be retained as a “traditional library” and that this is in the electoral ward of both councillors Ayfer Orhan and Doug Taylor, who is the leader of the council.
