Two or more years ago there was a group of volunteers called the Street Hawks – a small dedicated band of people who were co-ordinated by one council staff employee as part of her job, to encourage, hold meetings and organise groups to remove large and small fly-tips from all over the borough.
Along with many others, she was made redundant and redeployed in another department.
The Street Hawks group were added to Enfield in Bloom. I have had one letter from them since then. As Streek Hawks we did a good job for the people of Enfield. However, because I didn’t have an email address I have heard nothing from them since.
Volunteers need support and encouragement, and it shouldn’t cost them anything.
