I was waiting for my wife to complete a transaction in Barclays Bank, in Enfield Town, and whilst seated began to read what they had so carefuly printed on a display unit: “These are examples of some of our stationary aids.”

I don’t receive the obscene bonuses that they do but I can at least be grateful to have received a good education and know the golden rule that stationary spelt with an “a” means it does not move but stationery spelt with an “e” means envelopes, pencils, paper, etc.

My old English teacher would turn in his grave if he saw this mistake from one of the biggest corporations in the world.
