I'M A very keen listener to the radio phone-ins on Radio Five Live Sport and have continuously heard many a qualified football expert agree with the people of Hull that their city, with a population 400,000, should have a football team competing in the Premiership.

Hull City currently lie in the play-off positions (of the Coca-Cola Championship) so they have a dream for which to aim.

I laughed (not in humour) but in despair that our borough of 300,000 plus people does not even have a stadium for the locals to call their own.

We should have a stadium for Enfield Town FC (our only semi-professional club representing the borough and a supporters- run organisation which has no money-grabbing vested interest in it) to call home and for the community to use as a football- for-all centre for the many participating footballers in Enfield from youth to adult levels I've read in recent newspaper articles that councils in Tooting and Dartford (just to mention two) have sponsored the building of local community stadia and have seen attendances multiply beyond all expectations.

Whereas Enfield Council sold our Southbury Road Stadium nine years ago - that was rich with history of great FA Cup runs and Conference/FA Trophy triumphs - to organisations better known for fast food.

I believe it is time for Enfield Council to be pro-active in developing the QE Stadium for its people to participate in sport and dream of those great football nights and triumphs again.
