FAMILIES flocked to Forty Hall this weekend for a faerie-themed children's festival in the grounds of the building.

More than 2,000 people went to the Come Away With The Faeries event – a free festival designed purely for children including circus classes, story-telling and puppet shows.

The party followed last year's inaugural festival, which was set up by artists Caroline Young, Rebecca Leggett, Kerrie Bullen and Lynn Saunders .

Ms Saunders said: “We had treble the amount of people we expected so it was a huge success, and we were amazed at the support we received.

“All the children were well-behaved and there were only tantrums when it was home time.

“We may have outgrown Forty Hall now and we're talking to the council about maybe taking over Trent Park next year."

The gardens of the old hall were covered in faerie-themed decorations for the two-day event.
