MOTORISTS are being given early warning that the North Circular Road (A406) will be closed for one night next week.

The major route will be closed for a few hours on Sunday, February 20, between Bounds Green Road to Bowes Road while a pedestrian bridge is removed as part of the A406 expansion plans.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area from midnight to 5am on Sunday while the footbridge east of Broomfield Road is dismantled to make way for the widening of the carriageway, a new footway and a cycle route.

A temporary pedestrian crossing will be installed between Moffat Road and Pymmes Close and remain in place until a permanent one is fitted later this year.

All Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) travelling eastbound on the A406 will be diverted north onto the A1, along the M25 and south onto the A10 to allow access back on to the A406.

Westbound HGVs will be diverted north on to the A10, on to the M25 and south onto the A1/A41 to allow access back onto the A406.
