BIRDS of prey will take to Enfield's skies this month in what promises to be a thrilling fun day for all the family.

More than 25 birds ranging from falcons to hawks will spread their wings in Bush Hill Park, between Southbury Road and Lincoln Road, on Saturday, September 25.

The free event has been put together by the Friends of Bush Hill Park and is being subsidised by the Enfield Friends of Parks Fund.

Maria Tolly, chairman of the Friends of Bush Hill Park, said "We want as many people as possible to come along, and as well as having a great time they will be able to see some of the changes we are making to the park.

"The derelict old shelter has been transformed into a work of art with the help of Debbie Dean of ArtStart with the help of children of George Spicer and Bush Hill Park Primary Schools.

"The toilets are refurbished, the children’s beautiful new playground is finished and a skate park is proving very popular, and The Wildlife Garden for which we got a grant from Awards for All is making progress."

Colchester Birds of Prey Display Team will also be joined by the Enfield Chase Dog Training Club who will be on hand to give demonstrations and advice to dog owners.

Other event highlights include Doctor Bike with advice on bicycle maintenance, and Steven Ball's Drumcircle will attend with a selection of percussion instruments.

Face-painting and arts and crafts will also be available for children. Festivities start at 11am and end at 4pm.
