A nine-year-old has beaten 50,000 other children to win an anagrams competition.

Victor Redondo, who goes to Highfield Primary School in Winchmore Hill, has reached the grand final of the BANANAGRAMS challenge.

He will head to London Magic's Circle with the 11 other winners invited to ‘Go Wild with Words’ on April 29.

The BANANAGRAMS Challenge is a national tournament for schools, designed to boost children’s vocabulary and spelling skills. It is in its third year of running, involving 1500 primary schools across the country and almost 50, 000 children.

The 12 finalists will compete in rounds of BANANAGRAMS for a trophy and £1,000 cheque for their school.

Victor’s teacher, Mr Wilson, who oversaw the Challenge in Highfield Primary School said, “We’re all absolutely thrilled that Victor made it to the Grand Final and the whole school is exceptionally proud of his achievement.”

Victor said “I can’t believe that I actually made it to the finals."
