A thug who assaulted a man after stealing his bike has been jailed for 12 years behind bars.

Armani Coleman, 20, of Carterhatch Lane, Enfield, took a 45-year-old man’s bike outside a shop in West Green Road, Haringey.

As the man caught up with Coleman and Cedric Ndaye, 19, of no fixed address, the pair along with a third man launched a vicious attack on the victim.

He was stabbed in the back and kicked in the body and head whilst he lay unconscious on the floor.

The assault was only stopped when a passer-by intervened.

The group of three were spotted by police nearby and ran off, discarding the knife used to stab the victim.

Ndaye was arrested at the scene on May 25 with Coleman being arrested on Thursday, June 18.

The third man is yet to be found.

Detective Constable Rob Buckley, from Haringey CID, said: "This was an entirely unprovoked assault that stemmed from Coleman's desire to steal a bicycle.

"The victim suffered numerous injuries that required extensive medical treatment.

"The third suspect in this incident has yet to be traced although efforts continue; I would appeal to anyone with information to contact officers."

Coleman was given 12 years imprisonment for assault and one month in prison after pleading guilty to theft.

Ndaye was also sentenced to 12 years behind bars for assault.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
