Hundreds of people gathered to enjoy a town show.

The annual Enfield Town Show took place on Saturday and Sunday in Enfield Town Park, and saw a range of music and entertainment on offer.

Jo McWilliams, a member of Saint Monica’s Players, an amateur dramatic group which performed at the show, said: “The weather is glorious, and everyone is up for it and having a nice time.

“We’re performing songs from our next production, Aladdin. We’ve spoken to lots of people, and got a lot of people interested in getting involved. Hopefully people come and enjoy it.”

Elsewhere, Ukrainian culture was celebrated, with dancers performing in traditional dress.

Christine Modla-Thomas, a member of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, which organised the dance, said: “It was really fun, and the kids joined in. It seemed to catch the imagination of people.

“Everyone’s been really welcoming, and very supportive.”

The show also had a horticultural element, with vegetable competitions and homemade honey on display.

John Wilkinson, a member of the Enfield and District Beekeepers’ Association, said: “It’s been good, there are a lot of people showing interest. We get enquiries during the show. There’s more to it than meets the eye.

“We’ve been doing the show for the last 40 years. It’s a popular part of the show, and it tells the public about beekeeping.”

Craft stalls, a funfair and an array of food and drink also kept people entertained.

Ali Kaya, from Edmonton, said: “It’s lovely. They have created a good community feel and there’s a lot on offer, especially for the kids. It’s important for the community to have events like this.”

Enfield North MP Nick de Bois said: “It’s very well organised. There’s been a really good turnout, and the weather has been kind to us. You see lots of different things.”
