The decision about whether computer hacker Gary McKinnon will be extradited to America is expected to be announced tomorrow.

If the 46-year-old, from Palmers Green, is extradited to the US by Home Secretary Theresa May, he could face a 60-year jail term.

Mr McKinnon, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome, is wanted by US prosecutors for hacking into sensitive Government and military databases between 2001 and 2002.

The former Haringey schoolboy, who lived in Crouch End as a youth, admitted breaching their systems but claims he was looking for information on UFOs.

Psychiatrists employed by the Home Secretary claim Mr McKinnon is at high risk of suicide if he is extradited to America.

His solicitor Karen Todner from Kaim Todner Solicitors Ltd said: “It has been a long 11 year battle to fight this extradition and we wait with anxiety, but hope, that the Home Secretary will uphold the promises previously made by Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg.”

His supporters argue he should face justice in the UK and extradition to America would be a breach of his human rights, given his health condition.

The decision is due to be revealed at the House of Commons tomorrow, although the time is yet to be confirmed.
