Proposals to open a new academy in Enfield have been released today.

Oasis Community Learning, which runs 19 academies in the UK, would like to open the secondary school to open in September 2014.

The education trust already sponsors Oasis Academy Hadley in Bell Lane and Oasis Academy Enfield in Innova Park.

The school would cater for children aged 11 to 16 years old with six forms of entry. The proposals call for an initial intake of 180 Year 7 pupils.

Steve Chalke, Oasis Founder, said: “Oasis’ goal is to create another outstanding community secondary school in Enfield which will offer both an excellent education and many additional opportunities for students and their families through our Oasis Hub model.

“We are delighted to be developing this much-needed new school in order to meet the future needs of the Enfield community.”

A site for the school is yet to be identified, although Oasis will work with Enfield Borough Council and the Department for Education over the coming months to identify a suitable space.

Public consultations for parents and carers will be held at The Art Zone in The Market Square in Edmonton Green Shopping Centre on Wednesday, October 24, from 4pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm and Tuesday, November 20, from 4pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm.
