RAVERS abandoned plans for a Halloween party in an Enfield cemetery after being labelled “idiots” and warned to stay away.
Organisers of the illegal rave had suggested the venue would be a burial yard in the borough, although the actual location is kept secret until the last moment.
Councillor Chris Bond, who is in charge of environment, said on Friday the idea was “hugely offensive and upsetting”, and put his staff on high alert to stop the event happening.
After his comments went public, the cemetery rave plans were wiped from the organisers' Facebook page, and a rave in Enfield failed to materialise on Saturday, October 29, or last night on Halloween itself.
Enfield has been no stranger to illicit raves in recent months, with Trent Park being chosen for the all-night parties on several occasions during the summer.
Parks officers have been called on to try to kick ravers out of the park, but not before the ground is strewn with litter and empty booze bottles and loud music blares through the night.
During the latest incident in September, the famous Obelisk monument was vandalised with graffiti, prompting a hunt for the perpetrator.
