AN amateur boxer from Winchmore Hill caught taking possession of a gun has been jailed for five years.
Bulent Ruzgar, 48, was under surveillance by police when he met with associates in Ladbrokes in Cockfosters Road, Southgate.
After a short meeting in the bookie, on January 12, Ruzgar got into a Mercedes and followed a Nissan Zafira before taking a large bag and putting it in his boot.
Officers from the Met's Central Task Force swooped on Ruzgar and following a struggle, he was arrested.
The 48-year-old, of Uplands Way, denied possession of a firearm at Snaresbrook Crown Court, but was found guilty by a jury. He was jailed for five years on Wednesday, October 26.
Detective Inspector Colin Stephenson, who led the operation, said: “This gun seizure is significant as it was obviously meant for the streets of London, and is a blow against criminality.”
