THOUSANDS of people flocked to Enfield Town this weekend for a two-day festival of music, dancing, and entertainment.

On Saturday, Town Park in Cecil Road was packed out for Enfield Autumn Show, enjoying a variety of stalls and attractions including Britain's Got Talent stars and Enfield residents Stavros Flatley who were performing.

Yesterday, visitors to the show had to brave the rain but many were still determined to enjoy themselves.

The show is an annual event in the Enfield calendar, and offers a vast array of community groups the chance to advertise their work, sell arts and crafts, and attract new members.

This year's show also included a concerted effort from local businesses and Enfield Council to offer information, support, and advice in the wake of last month's rioting and looting in the borough.

The show was one of the last events in the Enfield Festival calendar, a four-month programme of events designed to attract more people into the borough.

If deemed a success, the Enfield Festival idea is likely to return next year in conjunction with the London 2012 Olympics.
