PUB regulars are renowned for the occasional hair of the dog - but few are known for taking it literally.

The Fallow Buck, in Clay Hill, Enfield, is the exception, having set up a special bar for pups to enjoy a tipple alongside their owners.

New general manager Chris Valencia, 37, came up with the idea around a fortnight ago after some people complained about always having to leave their pets outside.

Mr Valencia said: "I noticed there were always lots of people walking around here with dogs, though it's often absolutely freezing outside.

"A few guests mentioned that it would be great to let the dogs inside, so I cleared out a special section of the pub just for them.

"It's been a fantastic success and people are saying they are really glad about it.

"I don't know anywhere else that has a special bar just for dog owners."

The bar, which is sectioned off inside the pub, can house around 30 guests.

Mr Valencia, who hopes to buy a puppy of his own soon, said he did not serve food in the bar due to health and safety considerations, and ensured all dogs were on leads.
