PALMERS Green is home to an unusual form of Eastern meditation which appeared on a BBC television programme yesterday.
The Hao Tai Chi Association, which has been based in Palmers Green for the past 20 years, featured on the BBC1 Breakfast programme on Saturday morning. Presenter Mike Bushell visited the centre in St John's Church Hall, Bourne Hill, on March 30 and took part in self-defence demonstrations.
Instructor Karen Turton said: "We gave him a flavour of what we do. A lot of people practice tai chi but our form is unusual in that we are based on more traditional theories. We teach about health benefits but we also teach about the martial aspects of it."
There will be a free introductory session at St John's Church Hall on Sunday, April 11 at 6pm. More details are available from www.haotaiji.com.
