Colin Firth’s glamorous wife is taking on a red carpet challenge – by only wearing green outfits.

Livia Firth, who lives in Chiswick with her movie star husband, has made the eco-conscious decision to only wear sustainable fashion on the red carpet to show that women can look glamorous but still be green.

She said: “When Colin got nominated for the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, we knew we would have to attend lots of premieres.

“I thought I’d have to challenge myself to see whether I could do all the red carpets wearing only ethical and sustainable fashion.”

Mrs Firth has been working with her friend, TV presenter and journalist Lucy Siegles, to promote eco-fashion at Eco Age, in Chiswick High Road, which she established with her brother in 2008.

She will be keeping a blog of her challenge at vogue.com, where she is inviting observers to give feedback on her choice of gowns.

She said: “It is important for me and Lucy to know what women are thinking, whether they feel encouraged, confused, challenged themselves or whatever their response is.”
