A MARKET trader had to undergo ear surgery after a woman wrestled him to the floor and bit him in a dispute over a mobile top-up card.

The woman had returned to the mini market in South Street, Ponders End after buying a top-up card which she claimed was faulty and became aggressive when the man said he would call his boss.

A witness managed to disarm her when she threatened the 39-year-old man with a bottle. But she then managed to grab hold of the victim, pulling him on the floor and biting his ear.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to try to trace the woman, who is described as a black female aged in her 30s and around 5ft 7ins. She was wearing a green parker jacket with white stripes down the side.

The assault took place on Friday April 3 just before 2pm.
