A prostate cancer roadshow is coming to Tottenham.

Orchid’s Male Cancer Information Roadshow will be at the Marcus Garvey Library on Friday February 23 between 10am and 4pm to talk about testicular, prostate and penile cancer.

Men and their families can meet with specialists on the day to learn more about how to spot the signs, symptoms and risk factors of these cancers.

Orchid is a charity which raises awareness of male cancers, provides support services and pioneers research.

Rob Cornes, Orchid male cancer information nurse specialist, said: “It is crucial that black African and Caribbean men and their families are familiar with the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer.

“Because men from this community are at a heightened risk, we advise men to seek professional advice about their risk once they hit 45.

“We really hope that men in Haringey will take the opportunity to come to the roadshow and find out more.”

Over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, with 11,287 deaths from the disease annually.

One in eight men will develop prostate cancer in their lives.

Black men, however, are at double the risk with one in four developing prostate cancer.

Only 14 percent of black men are aware of their higher risk.
