An Enfield vineyard is the toast of the borough after winning a national award for their wine.
Forty Hall Vineyard received the most public votes to scoop the 2016 Urban Food Awards’ Growing Enterprise trophy at a ceremony last week in Borough Market.
As well as making tasty beverages, the vineyard won the award for its community work – it is run by volunteers, who produced 1,200 bottles in 2015.
The 10-acre vineyard, based at Capel Manor College’s Forty Hall Farm, produces London’s only organic sparkling wine, made traditionally from Champagne grapes. The 2016 harvest is currently underway.
Project manager Sarah Vaughan-Roberts said: "This award is a fantastic testament to all the hard work and commitment of our amazing volunteers who are helping to build our successful growing enterprise”.
