A husband who found his wife’s memorial vandalised has called it “disgraceful” and offered a reward to catch the culprit.

Dean Adde visits the St. Andrew’s Church garden of rest in Enfield Town every Sunday morning to leave flowers where his wife Kay’s ashes have been buried for the past three years.

But yesterday (August 21), when the 58-year-old father-of-three visited at around 10am, he found the whole garden had been ransacked, with graves knocked down, vases smashed and flowers scattered everywhere.

Mr Adde, of Slades Hill, said: “I saw her stone had been turned around, I went to pick it up and saw the whole garden was like it.

“It’s disgraceful, I’m very upset. This has never happened before.

“My wife’s place is one of the first you come to as you walk through the gate, and it had been all kicked around.

“I called the police, and we spent about 20 minutes picking everything up and putting things back where we thought they belonged.

“It was upsetting enough for me, but for so many people and families to be disrespected, it’s disgraceful.

“I don’t know any of the other people who come here, it’s not really the place to start conversations, but I know there will be plenty of people who will have been hurt by this. It is absolutely despicable.”

He said the flowers he had placed on Kay’s place the previous weekend had been destroyed, with the pot they had been put in also smashed.

Mr Adde says he is willing to offer up to £250 to anyone who helps identify those responsible.

He said his three daughters, including one, Natalie, who still lives in Enfield, were all spreading the news via social media, and was hopeful someone would be able to help.

A Met Police spokesman said they had been called on Sunday morning and there had been no arrests.
