Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a man who was stabbed to death after an attempted robbery.

The man, 28, was found dead at the scene in Lackmore Road, Enfield, just after 7pm last night following a single stab wound to the chest.

Police have launched a murder investigation following the stabbing as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Neighbours watched on in horror as they claimed the man was covered by a white sheet for more than two hours in the road, just off Bullsmoor Lane.

A bystander, who did not want to be named, said: “A man was lying on the floor covered in blood. It is so tragic that someone else has been stabbed in Enfield.”

The three men were chased across the Elsinge Estate, according to a neighbour, before being arrested by police.

This was the second stabbing in the borough in less than a week after a man was stabbed in the neck in Hoe Lane, Enfield Wash, and is still fighting for his life.

Surrounding roads have been closed since the stabbing and some roads remain closed as detectives continue to investigate the scene and "search for the weapon" according to another neighbour.

Despite best efforts from paramedics who performed emergency surgery at the scene but the 28-year-old was pronounced dead in Lackmore Road, at 7.31pm.

Next of kin has been informed.
