The tension is palpable at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre as the furious counting of election votes is in full swing.
Results for Enfield North, Enfield Southgate and Edmonton are expected in the next few hours with a nail biting finish anticipated.
Conservative candidate Nick de Bois, who is looking to hold on to Enfield North despite polls six months ago suggesting his bitter rival Joan Ryan would take back the seat, said: “I was predicted to win in 2005 but ended up losing,” said Conservative candidate Nick de Bois,
However, rumours at the athletics track suggest there will be a sprint finish for Mr de Bois, who could potentially hold a seat he was expect to lose to his Labour counterpart.
Counters are working hurriedly in a bid to finish earlier than last year’s local election, which saw results announced at 7.30am.
In Enfield Southgate, results are expected in ten minutes with a close fight between David Burrowes for the Conservatives and Bambos Charalambous in the Labour camp.
