A church is set to host its 37th annual charity fair.

Christ Church, in Southgate, will hoold the event on bank holiday Monday in aid of North London Hospice.

Curate the Reverend Hazel Miall said: “The Weld Chapel, which stood on the site of Christ Church, was consecrated in May 1615 – exactly four hundred years ago this month. As this is such an important anniversary in our community, we wanted the main beneficiary of this year’s fair to be a charity with a local focus that supports a diverse range of people in our area.”

Kicking off at midday, the fair will include the annual procession and coronation of the May Queen at 2pm, with The Mayor of Enfield performing the ceremony.

In celebration of Christ Church Southgate’s 400th Anniversary, May Queens from years gone by are invited to join the procession.

Stalls will include books, music, toys, cakes and plants, with activities for all ages including a miniature steam train, a climbing wall and go-karts, face-painting, a magician and more.

North London Hospice community events fundraiser Tracy Annunziato said: "We are delighted to be selected as the main beneficiary of this year's May Day Fair. Support from our local community is essential in allowing us to continue caring for those suffering from a life-limited illness and their families from Enfield, Barnet and Haringey.

“We are so grateful for all the support we receive and we hope to see you on Monday 4 May. We look forward to an exciting day of family fun and fundraising."
