More than 250 disabled young people attended a conference to help them move towards ‘independent’ living.
The ‘transition market place’ hosted by Enfield Borough Council at the Dugdale Centre, in London Road, gave those approaching their 18th birthday a chance to learn about adult life.
Speakers gave advice and stalls were set up regarding post-16 education and training programs.
Council leader Councillor Doug Taylor said: “Young people came to the ‘market place’ event at the Dugdale Centre where they could find out about council and voluntary services in Enfield. It was a huge success, well-supported by our special schools.
“Reaching 18 is an important milestone for all young people and we recognise that those with a disability will need the respect and support that enables them to lead as independent a life as possible as adults.”
