95-year-old Dr Charles Eugster after finishing his 200m lap
A 95-year-old retired dentist has beaten the 200m sprint record.
Dr Charles Eugster, a professional bodybuilder, ran the distance in 55.35 seconds at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, in Meridian Way, Enfield.
Members of Silver Grey Sports Club, which supports over-50s in athletics, filmed Dr Eugster as he ran a circuit of the track.
The “inspiration” received hundreds of messages of congratulations following the run.
On his Facebook page, Dr Eugster said: “I am over the moon – Thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve this.”
