An annual 'winter fair' held to help elderly people attracted a record crowd.

More than 250 people were given advice on preparing for winter months and saving money on their energy bills at the event organised by the Enfield Over 50s Forum.

Forum president Monty Meth said: “We hoped to beat the cold winter blues by showcasing the good work of so many different people - from dance groups to good neighbour schemes.

“We were delighted that so many people came along to the event and had the opportunity to learn about keeping their homes warm affordably and also had some fun at the same time.

“Enfield has more than 10,000 low income homes classed as being in 'fuel poverty' – unable to afford to heat their homes to the level needed to stay warm and healthy."

Enfield Over 50s forum is working with NEA, British Gas and Enfield Council as part of the Community Action Partnership to promote the health benefits of warm homes, particularly for older and vulnerable people.
