An inspirational matron who was presented with a prize by Prince Harry has called for nominations for this year's awards.
Bernadette O’Gorman, of Baker Street, Enfield, won the Above and Beyond award at the WellChild 2014 awards in September.
Ms O’Gorman spoke to Prince Harry after collecting the award for her work with sick children at Whittington Health, which covers Haringey, Islington and Camden.
Following her success, Ms O’Gorman, known as Berni, is urging people to be nominated for the awards.
She said: “I had such a fantastic evening at the WellChild Awards in London, it was lovely to be there for such a positive reason. I would encourage local people to nominate inspirational children or medical professionals who have made a difference to their lives. It was a great experience to be part of and something I will never forget.”
WellChild nurse Diane Miles, who nominated Ms O'Gorman, said: “Berni shows compassionate care to the families she works with, using her extensive experience and understanding. She will always go the extra mile to assist and support families and as team leader Berni is approachable supportive, caring and leads by example.”
Entries for the 2015 Awards will be judged by an expert panel including children’s health researchers, former winners and health professionals.
Awards will be handed out at a ceremony in London in September 2015.
