A woman who pleaded guilty to drowning two kittens in a bucket of water will be sentenced later this month.

Marylin Huck, 54, of Cuckoo Hall Lane, in Edmonton, dumped the kittens outside her neighbour’s home on November 6, 2013.

She pleaded guilty two counts of causing unnecessary distress to animals, changing her plea on what would have been the first day of her trial at Highbury Magistrates Court.

Huck was scheduled to be sentenced this week at the same court, but psychiatric reports that had been prepared were not sent to court in time and Huck had not been notified of the court appearance until a few days prior to the date as the letter was sent to the wrong address.

The court heard that she had strangled the kittens and then put them in a plastic bag which she had held in a bucket of water for ten minutes before putting them on a neighbour’s doorstep.

She has now been bailed until February 25 when she is expected to be sentenced.

Her bail conditions are to not have any contact with neighbour Julie Coleman, and not to have any animals in her care.
