A seven-year-old girl raised more than £800 for a children’s charity when she had her long locks cut.
Ellie Jordan, of Mapleton Crescent, was inspired by two of her grandparents who had suffered from cancer to help out children who have lost their hair through various illnesses.
Getting her golden locks cut at Tommy’s Bar, in Hertford Road, her mother Linda told the newspaper of her pride for her little girl.
She said: “She saw last year someone had done it and two of her grandparents have had cancer with her granddad losing his hair so she has been around this sort of thing and grown to understand it.
“When she said she wanted to get her haircut I asked her a couple of times just to be sure and she was adamant on it and now I think she likes it short.”
The money will be going to the Little Princess Trust, and Ellie's hair will be used to create a wig.
