More than £1,500 has been raised for brain tumour research in memory of an Enfield woman.

Brain Tumour Research member Allison Lochhead organised a concert in memory of her mother Sylvia Horder, from Enfield, who died from a brain tumour in 2002, aged 63.

The concert was held at Bush Hill Park Bowls Club, in Enfield, and featured Mel Field, of Woodford, performing in memory of her daughter Molly, eight, who died in 2010 after she was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour.

Ms Lochhead, 47, said: "My mum was diagnosed with a grade IV glioma brain tumour in May 2001 and sadly passed away in July 2002, Then in March 2010, eight-year-old Molly was diagnosed with a diffuse brain tumour which was inoperable and incurable and she died only six months later.

“It is unbearable to think that one in 50 people who die under the age of 60 die from a brain tumour, yet this area receives just one per cent of the national spend on cancer research.”

Approximately 125 people attended the event and the musical programme included Christmas number ones plus a solo from Allison’s son Henry, nine, who also performed a comedy routine with Molly’s sister, Isabella, also nine.
