Plans to build a school and new homes at Chase Farm hospital site will be debated at a public meeting tonight.

Enfield Council’s planning panel will meet to discuss the planning application for the redevelopment of the hospital site in The Ridgeway, Enfield.

Plans costing more than £200million for the 15 hectare site includes 32,000sq m of replacement hospital facilities, a primary school with three Reception classes and up to 500 homes.

The plans were submitted by Royal Free London NHS Trust, which took over Chase Farm NHS Trust in July last year.

Access to the site would be from The Ridgeway and Lavender Hill, with the school reached via Shooters Road.

The application proposes the demolition of hospital buildings and associated residential blocks, the partial demolition of the Clock Tower complex, the removal of the microwave clinical waste treatment plant and fuel oil burner.

The Highlands Wing will be retained and the existing multi-storey car park will be extended.

The meeting will take place at Highlands Secondary School, 148 Worlds End Lane at 7.30pm. Members of the public and councillors will be able to ask questions about the proposed plans.
