A fresh witness appeal has been made after a Sudanese immigrant was apparently hit by the lorry he had been clinging to since climbing onto it in Calais.

Ali Mossa-Gani, 28, was hit by the lorry between Junction 24 of the M25, in Potters Bar, and Junction 25, in Enfield, on Friday December 12 at 7pm.

He was travelling with a fellow Sudanese man, and the pair allegedly climbed beneath the lorry at the French port of Calais at around 11am that day.

After the lorry reached the M25, the two men, who were still clinging to the underside of the HGV, decided to climb down.

As the lorry had stopped in one lane, one of the men clambered down onto a nearby grass verge.

Mr Mossa-Gani attempted to do the same, but the lorry moved off and he is believed to have fallen beneath the rear wheels of the lorry, suffering fatal injuries.

At this stage it is believed that the lorry driver was unaware of the incident and as a result did not stop at the scene.

A post-mortem examination took place on December 19, and gave cause of death as multiple injuries.

The other man - who was not injured - was detained on suspicion of immigration offences and passed to immigration officials to be dealt with.

Police continue to make appeals to anyone who saw the incident take place.
