A motorway junction will undergo major redevelopment as part of a £15billion plan to improve roads.

Junction 25 on the M25 will be widened, have new signals installed and a free-flow left turn created.

A total of 18 schemes worth £1.4 billion are estimated to create 900 jobs in London.

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said: “I am setting out the biggest, boldest and most far-reaching roads programme for decades. It will dramatically improve our road network and unlock Britain’s economic potential.

“Roads are key to our nation’s prosperity. For too long they have suffered from under-investment.”

Nick Dines, Councillor for Chase Ward, said: "This investment is really welcome. Whenever the traffic news comes on LBC it is a running joke with friends of mine that delays at Jct 25 will be mentioned.

"I used to commute to work in my car and I lost count of the number of hours I spent stuck in traffic james waiting to turn off here. Widening of the junction will hopefully improve the quality of life for the thousands of Enfield residents who use the M25 to get to work and back."

Enfield North MP Nick de Bois welcomed the announcement that Junction 25 on the M25 will be redeveloped with money from the Government.

He said: "The size of this road investment is unheard of and is a major boost to capacity where the motorway crosses the A10, which will bring new jobs and opportunities. I’m very pleased the government’s long term economic plan means more money being ploughed into Enfield’s transport infrastructure.”
