Further to the discussion about unlocked parks, after being reminded about vandalism, Enfield Borough Council has taken a sensible decision and deferred action until April next year. Hopefully they will drop the idea permanently.
The reason for unlocking 23 parks at night is to save £26,000, but this is a tiny sum compared to the cost of damage likely to be caused by free access for anti-social behaviour.
We know the council is constrained by Government cuts in council expenditure, but if they are so poor that they are looking for the odd £26,000, why are they going to spend £40.9million on the Cycle Enfield project when there are so few cyclists?
Come on Enfield, protect our parks from vandals at all costs. They are the only oasis of pleasure amid bricks and mortar.
