Three scouts have described a ten-day hiking adventure as "unique".

Harry Galgut, 19, Larah Korrison, 18, and Pete Whitehead, 19, embarked on a ten-day challenge around Lake Zurich in Switzerland to earn their explorer belts.

The trio had no idea what was in store for them except that their leader, Matt Overall, had set them ten challenges to complete during the trip.

The Explorer Belt included at least 50 hours of hiking, having a photo taken with a member of the emergency services wearing their scout scarves, and meeting local people..

Their trip also included a tour of Google's headquarters and other challenegs to prompt them to learn about different cultures.

Larah said "The explorer belt is a unique experience, like nothing we've ever done before. Not only did it involve the physical aspect of the 50-hour hike, but it gave us an opportunity to explore social and cultural opportunities in scouting."

Pete added: "For any Scouts looking for a challenge, I would highly recommend it, it’s an opportunity beyond expeditions, such as Duke of Edinburgh award."
