A new pound shop is set to create 30 new jobs in Edmonton.

British-owned Poundworld will open in Edmonton Green shopping centre on Thursday, July 24.

Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundworld, said: “We’re excited to be opening our first store in Edmonton Green at the Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, creating 30 new retail jobs for the area.

“Our store has a massive range and is in a great location so we’re confident that we can tempt people away from Poundland with our fantastic bargains.

“We hope shoppers will take advantage of the great deals we have on a vast range that includes branded and value products, from groceries to cleaning products and pet care.”

The chain was founded in 1997 and 245 branches across the UK.

The new store will be 5,000 square foot and open next to the Lloyds bank at the shopping centre.

Yey! Another cheap and nasty shop - that makes FOUR pound shops in Edmonton Green. Whoever is letting these units needs to consider whether they actually want to regenerate the area - because another pound shop is hardly indicative of prosperity and wealth.

Short term thinking from the centre management which is obviously being mismanaged for years now, they have made the recent improvements in the area worthless as any right minded shopper would avoid such a shopping centre as there are no quality shops in the area unless you like sports shops such as Jd Sports which is a nice addition to the shopping centre and the Costa coffee which does a huge favour to the centre by being there, apart from that the shopping centre has nothing to offer apart from the norm of Argos ,Asda, Card Factory, Holland and Barrett sadly this place has become a no go zone as for quality shops , just a mix of budget shops that offer little to the short changed Edmonton shopper, when will the management wake up and realise that shoppers will not come to a shopping centre that only offers cheap tat and no major high street stores such as a Bodyshop, Next, River Island, Marks and Spencer , H&M .
These stores will not want to be associated with the likes of the pound shops that have taken over the shopping centre , i just hope that the management actually read this and open their eyes to what has become of a once vibrant shopping centre that has now become a mecca for cheap tat .
Give the people of Edmonton a better quality of choice instead of countless poundshops please .
